WELCOME TO LAS PALMAS
1. Playa de Las Canteras – Playa de las Canteras is one of the main and largest beaches in the city of Las Palmas. We spent a lot of our free time there. We met there almost every day after work to sunbathe and swim. In the evenings, when it wasn´t windy, we also played cards. Part of the beach is exposed to waves, so there is also a surfing school.
2. California surf center – We had an organized 2-hour surfing lesson. Each of us was given our own surfboard. We went to the beach, where the instructors taught us the basics of surfing. On the dry land we practiced how to stand up on the board when a wave comes. We divided into two groups and went into the sea. Everyone really enjoyed the experience, but it’s not as easy as it seems. We would recommend attending the lesson to anyone as it is an unforgettable experience.
3. Poema del Mar Aquarium – The Poema del Mar aquarium was located near our accommodation Hotel Verol. The aquarium is very large and well organized. It has many different species of sea animals. We especially liked the jellyfish that changed colors and the crocodiles. At the exit there is also a shop where you can buy souvenirs.
4. Museo Elder de la Ciencia y la Tecnología – This interactive museum is all about science and technology and not trying out the technology is banned. At the entrance there is a statue of Einstein and a airplane you could go inside and pretend you a are pilot. There museum has a few floors, there is also a model ship and a table with a ball that you have to get into a hole. You can try 3D immersive viewing experience where you put on 3D glasses and with the help of an employee you can walk on a plank. At the end we watched a Spanish film with 3D glasses.
5. Taco Bell – Taco Bell is a fast food restaurant. Since we don´t have it in Slovenia, we wanted to try the food. The most famous items there are tacos. We really enjoyed it, so we recommended it to others. Their system allows you to refill your drinks as much as you want. It´s also quite affordable.
6. Primor – The Primor store is located in the Las Arenas shopping center. It offers hair care products, body care products, facial cosmetics, and perfumes. The prices there are quite a bit lower than in Slovenia. Based on what we bought, everything is 40% cheaper. The store is worth a visit; it has everything in one place and offers products for both women and men.
